Design Sponge Book Launch Party
at West Elm in the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
I celebrated with fellow old co-worker and Mr. Boddington's buddy, Kimberly Munn
to commemorate her feature in Grace Bonney's, Design Sponge at Home.
Such a lovely occasion to catch up and see a friend's creative recognition.

Second in-store event was to commemorate Melinda's feature in
New York Magazine's Wedding Guide. I helped design the ad that was published in that issue.

With the use of vintage clip art, I quickly designed
the corresponding event table signs with folded notes and hidden ribbons as
braces to reinforce the support of the tented signs.

showcasing PostScript Brooklyn

Weeks of preparation and materials sourcing made the event worthwhile.

We checked out Roy Vaccaro's New York Old Iron near the Lowe's parking lot
and under the F train in Gowanus, Brooklyn. There were interesting vintage finds such as this stove and oven. Love the compartments and color.

Home made cat house
Little cat friend

We took a field trip to the west side of Manhattan in the Floral District
to Jamali Gardens for some table display decor and accoutrements for PostScript's booth.
Perhaps the perfect mixed wood and birch stumps and log bundle for our display?
Probably not a fit for the event but would get these for personal use ;)

Hot air balloon just like the one from Vinegar Hill Suite at Atlantis Attic in Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Custom made stamps ordered from Simon Stamps of PostScript's designs

The back wall hinged divider is coming together...finished wrapping it in burlap.
Melissa started to wrap ribbon to test the display

More materials sourcing for the event:
Hunting for the perfect dessert stand to display

Macarons at Francois Payard Bakery in Greenwich Village

Alas...day of The Cream Event has arrived!

Dave, Leah, Erica and I loaded the UHaul with all of the display items for our booth. We arrived at Center 548 at 1:30pm to set it all up. Beginning with pretty much a blank white canvas of two tables and provided linens between two white columns, we utilized every minute of the 4 hours prior to the start of the event at 6pm. We each were running back and forth referring to our mobile pics to help guide the set up of the display. Towards the very last moments, Dave helped put up our PostScript Brooklyn bunting banner to finally give identity to our booth.
Leah shown on the left in front of our booth

Gramercy Park showcase on the left side of the table with our willow and espresso color scheme. Erica searched for the perfectly colored candies, treats, and details to match the suite. Green rock candy lollypop swizzle sticks, brown chocolate pudding jelly beans, green juicy pear jelly beans, green pistachio and chocolate brown macarons from Almondine Bakery, and green and white paper straws added sweet adornments to the display.
We placed our exclusively Cream Event themed letterpress
Thank You cards giveaway designed by Leah in front of each suite display.
oops, blurry shot of Washington Square charcoal and squash color scheme for our central showcase
Yellow rock candy swizzle sticksyellow and white striped paper straws, and yellow m & m's
To finish our trifecta of popular invitation suites,
Vinegar Hill on the right side of the table is shown in navy and squash.

Blue and white striped paper straws from Tarzian West Housewares, blueberry stick candies, yellow jelly beans, lemon yellow and vanilla cream colored macarons atop our glass ruffled tier pedestal and blue rock candy swizzle sticks and yellow rock candy on a string.
All of the wire baskets and 3 tiered wire basket display, clips and wire stands were lent by Erica's personal display collection along with the rectangular wooden place card and invitation holders from Etsy. With the help of our friendly neighbors at Brooklyn Wood, Angel cut down the birch logs to mini stumps with rabbit notches to hold our invites.
Brides Magazine's fancy table display. Eye-catching shimmery chevron. Their decorative cakes were fun too.

Fun signage
Beautiful vintage wedding gown

There's Patricia from Mr. Boddington's Studio visiting Duchess Clothier's booth!
It was nice running into an old co-worker!

Our booth neighbor's: Patina Vintage Rentals had such an awesome booth with hand-picked vintage pieces from all over the nation. They were so lovely and lent us 2 of their chairs for our booth.
This is what you were greeted with on the 4th floor once you entered from the staircase.
A multi-tiered display of cake-cups from Bee's Knees Baking Company. The gentlemen that were running the booth were friendly. I tried their PB & J cake cup: A yellow cake with Peanut Butter mousse and strawberry jam with a subtle hint of Cayenne.
Such nice display by Tree of Life films. They gave out key rings with wood slices stamped with their tree emblem in mini muslin bags.
The music and vibe picked up during the rest of the evening. This sultry singer captured the look and voice carried through the venue.

Mossy pig at Hatch Creative Studio

Such awesome giveaways and freebies to promote each company.
My favorite was Go Flip Yourself.
Instant flipbooks printed on the spot in 1 minute. Such a fun way to remember the occasion with a perfect memento to capture an animated photo booth photo/video op. Each guest takes home a little animated memory. I'm so glad to have tried it out with my childhood buddy, Lisa. We were both unsure what to do but be silly and crazy giggly.

Hey-I know these cards...
Great booth!

So delighted to see Michelle Lin of Chelleline Cards running her own booth and made it to the big leagues!

About Me

My photo
Pronounced (mahr-CHEH-la) with an invisible H. An observer, I see things that people do not always seem to capture in their initial glance unless intently watching and factoring in every analytical detail. When certain events occur before my eyes, I hold on to selective moments in fear that the moment might not happen again. Drawing inspiration from memories, dreams and revolving elements in daily life, I aspire to express a themed set of pieces based off this notion with interrelated characters, whether made-up or inspired by significant individuals. Raised on wanderlust and all made possible by a dynamic duo of a masterminder music aficionado of the turntables that keeps the dance floor, of all the young at heart, rockin’ ‘til the early morn with impeccable penmanship and the eye to be dapper debonair paired with his renaissance counterpart of whom shines with creativity and multi-talented brilliance that can fashion anything out of everything that she sets her mind to.
